The Knabstruper horse

KnabstrupThe Knabstruper originated in Denmark, Europe. It started with one chestnut blanketed mare which was bred with a Fredricksborg stallion. Together they had a madly coloured colt. From here they were established as a breed in 1812, and became some of the most sought after horses in Europe at that time.
They are about 15.2 - 16 hands high, although there are also pony sized horses at under 14.2 hands high. They have very attractive markings with black or brown spots varying in size all over the head legs and body. Knabstrupers are well known for their kind temperments, strength, stamina, very high level of trainability, and their wonderful colour. And their average life span is 20 to 35 years!
